Hi All,

I'm Charlene and live in Orcutt, California. I have a 2000 GS500 that i love to ride along the Central Coast of California. Only been riding since Oct. 2006 but i am hooked for life! I was in an accident, which wasn't my fault, but i am recovered and am back to riding. I can't express how GREAT it felt to get on and ride again! This is a great thread here, it's sure been fun to read the reply's here. I haven't been able to figure out how to insert photos here, so if anyone could help me and explain it i sure would appreciate it.

39 years old, male, married, 3 kids -- northeast corner of Massachusetts.

Got my first bike ever two weeks ago: 2001 GS.  MSF course coming up day after tomorrow.

This site has been an incredible resource in researching my first bike, and looking forward to contributing back to the discussion now that I own one.

48 y old physician from Barcelona, Spain. 2008 GS500F one week ago, this is my third bike and am very happy with it, done 400 miles smooth, smooth. Ah, and just about 60 mpg (or 4 L/100Km). This very informative site is my main source for technical and practical issues, which I think are going to be very few...  Cheers, and ride safe.

28 years old, married with 1.3 kids.  Purchases a new 2006 f a few weeks ago and will pass 700 miles in a day or so.  I live in Northeastern N.C. and would really enjoy meeting up with some other riders if any are in the area.

I'm Chris.  I'm a 26 year old Sheriff's Deputy from Asheville, NC.
I bought a 2005 GS500 in June. It's my first bike. I just took the MSF basic rider class this last weekend. I avoided riding until I took the class, and after the class I have been riding every day. Loving it, but already finding a few mechanical problems that I need to get a shop to handle ASAP. Other than that I am really enjoying my GS.

Oleg. I'm in Cincinnati, OH. 35, married, 2 children (4 yro and 3 month old). Just purchased '06 GS500F with 5300 miles. This is my first bike and have successfully (knock on wood) put 15 miles on it riding around the subdivision and going once down the street from the subdivision to get a pack of smokes and back :). I'm glad to be part of this forum, information I have found here is very, very usefull and easy to find.

Welcome!

If it'll help your decision, there are lots of threads about why the GS is a great beginner bike. There are also dozens of threads about what to look for when purchasing a used GS (or any motorcycle, for that matter).

Try out the search - if you can't find what you're looking for, just start a new thread and ask!

I'm Jay from Salem, Oregon. This is my first motorcycle, a 2007. I'm married with no kids, and a Master Automobile Technician at a Honda dealer (cars). Basically I bought the bike for commuting, and love it so much I can't figure out why it took me so long to buy a motorcycle, and can't imagine not owning one ever again. I just have to figure out how to get my wife to greenlight a Triumph Street Triple after next year.....

Neil. Live in Dallas. 47. Married. 3 Daughters. Only a senior in high school left at home. Last night bought my first bike with a motor. I have done a lot of mountain and road biking. I got a 2006 GS500F (black/silver) to use for commuting. Looking forward to getting comfortable enough to drive it out of the neighborhood. Taking a motorcycle safety course next week. When my high school daughters tell her friends they ask her if I am having a midlife crisis.

If that was the case I believe you would be on a Ducati or BMW forum and not this one!

Ouch. Careful. That sounds like an accurate stereotype of Dallas. Actual this is huge move up for me. Peope are use to seeing me drive around on a bike without an engine. 8)

Me too. I like mesh motorcycle pants better than spandex, though all the armored jackets make me look I'm trying out for a role as a stormtrooper in the next crappy Lucas-abortion, I mean Star Wars...
