Love the color scheme maemae. Name? Can't really help you there...perhaps name it after the first boy who gives you a "you ride a bike?...But your a girl" look
Lol, then I'll be calling it the name of all my male co-workers when I ride it to the office.

Just picked up a 91 GS500 off of eBay about a month ago as my first bike. I had been looking for either a GS or a Ninja 250 for a while and came across the auction one morning. When I noticed the auction was ending in a few hours, I jumped on it and ending up picking it up for $705. Since I'm in VA, I had a friend in NY pick it up for me and I'll be bringing it down here stuffed in the back of a rental minivan when I go back for Thanksgiving.

My current plan is to spend the winter doing maintenance on it (oil change, clean carbs, new tires, whatever else I come across) and then ride the hell out of it in the spring. The paint is a bit rough, but I'll deal with that later on.

My friend riding it back home when he picked it up for me:

Tyler.M

I'm Tyler, 22 year old white kid from nowheresville VA. Graduating from JMU soon, hopefully going to lawschool on the west coast after I spend a year traveling.  Used to own an e36 M3, got tired of BMW ownership, sold it at a profit bought myself an XJ and a GS to learn how to race, commute, and hoon...safely (oxymoron? I think so.)  Bought my first house over the summer after 7 years of working and saving up, so I suppose that means I'm an adult, or something like it.

I'm just glad to have a garage that isn't filled with other people's crap

Hey all, my name is Michael from Rochester, NY. I'm new to this forum (just joined yesterday), the GS and to motorcycling. I'm 22 and just graduated from Binghamton University in May and moved back to Rochester to be with my girlfriend. I've always been into motorcycles, always wanted one so finally this summer I took the MSF course at my local community college and got my license. After doing some research the GS seemed like a great first bike (at first I was thinking about a 250 because it seemed less intimidating, but now I'm very glad that I got a 500) so I found a 2005 f model on Craigslist and picked it up. Been riding around 4 months now and I've had a blast and put a lot of miles on it. Great bike in my opinion, love the way it handles the turns. Unfortunately it's starting to get pretty cold here so the morning ride to work isn't as fun as it used to be. However as long as it's above freezing I'm planning on continuing to ride, at least on the weekends.

Mechmech

Heya! I'm mechmech, a new GS500 rider from GA. This is my first "real" motorcycle, after spending the past 6 months on a 150cc scooter.

I bought the bike off its prior owner after spending a week reasearching it (using this forum and its wiki as my main source of info). Been riding it for about a month, and I'm very happy with it. Finally got around registering here.

Here's ahri, a 1996 gs500e:

David (43yo/male) from Malaysia and residing in Cambodia since 2008. Wanted to own a GS500E/F since a teenager in high school but this bike was not brought into Malaysia.  Found a GS500F (2007 H model, manufactured in Spain) in Cambodia for sale by an expatriate (he upgrade to a Honda Fireblade).

Decent bike for my riding needs in Cambodia but spares have to be mail-ordered.  Out performed the Harley of my riding club but not able to match those supersports and BWM 1200GS guys.

The GS500F is a real value for money bike for commuting and light touring.

If I ever upgrade, it would be to a BMW 1200GS.
