Hi everyone, my name is Louis. I'm 25, half Japanese and half American (Irish & French). Born in Seattle, raised in Tokyo, and now have been living near Minneapolis Mn for a while. I went to U of MN for undergrad in Architecture and just got hired on fulltime at an architecture firm downtown doing marketing and graphics. Hoping to get my hands on more project related stuff soon.

I've always wanted a motorcycle, but never knew how to ride until I got a chance to learn on a small Suzuki motorcycle during a trip to Brazil. Riding in the country side of Brazil with open roads and great scenery got me addicted...

Now that im fulltime... I was like, im getting a bike!!!!
I got a 96 GS500 and have been riding as much as i can in these crappy MN weather. I have no knowledge of motorcycles but i'm very thankful for everyone that has helped me figure out some of the issues ive been having with my bike. Its so nice to have a whole supportive community here who are always willing to help!!!

Are there any GS500 riders in Minnesota who want to get together for rides?!
Who wants to start a bike gang like the japanese bousouzoku gangs?!?! Haha jk.

Nice to meet you all, hope i can contribute to the site soon.
Thank you everyone!!!

Louis

YO YO!,

29 yr old First time bike owner. Just bought my first GS500EM 1991 on craigslist. Thinking back I could have saved some more money but oh well. Make mistakes and learn. Ill post pics sometime soon.

Welcome! Too bad you're not still in Seattle. Lots of us here that get together.

slothman

Gday. Im slothman and live in Bunyan NSW Aus (near Cooma for those in Australia). I just bought an 05 F model to do my L's and P's on.
Im a late starter to road bikes at 38. Im finally accepted in my all bike riding family.  :icon_razz:
Ive always riden dirt bikes and been a muscle car enthusiast and just never got around to getting my bike licence. Wish id done it earlier as its been a heap of fun so far.

Its a great little bike. I will be going bigger and faster as soon as I can but The GS will allways have a place in my heart.
Im 187 cms and 95 kgs so I fnd it a touch tight on my knees and quite tame. (Not forgetting Ive owned 2 stroke dirt bikes and still have a couple of big thumpin 4 strokes) But its still a great fun bike.

Hello all, I am another one starting late to riding.  I've done my research, and my MSF course work and found the bike I wanted, a 2007 GS500F.  I have slipped over from jeepforum and have now the idea of setting up my desired motorcycle, converting the F back to a naked E.  Thanks for so much of the info on this site and the videos that are available (Addidas I think I've seen all of yours, special thanks there) so I wanted to introduce myself since I'll most likely be asking some questions.  Plan for now, Black and grey F (3000mi), adjusted clutch cables to get neutral easily available fixed lower fairings a bit, fixed (leveled) r&g motor slider now the parts hunt.  E headlight bracket, bucket, guts and bulb (probably suzuki-parts), relocate indicators to the forks, fab a J shape oil cooler line protectors maybe out of aluminum flat stock and I guess the list will grow.  This will be my fun, around town and daytrip bike for those times just for me.  Well again, thanks for so much information, I live in Connecticut so if there is anybody that I might help don't hesitate to ask, if I can, I will.

What a day we had! It was fun bringing your GS500 back to life.
Welcome to the West Seattle GS500 Club!

Hey everybody.

My name is Micah. I'm an engineer, and I am from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. (Funny, I see the first poster of this thread is from Burlington as well!).

I just purchased my first bike ever, which is an '07 GS500F. Interested in maybe making the conversion to naked/defairinged, but I will have to wait and see if I enjoy it as is. Cool to find a community that loves this bike; I think I will love it just as much.

I'm a sixteen year old from Stamford, CT. My dad rode a Yamaha 750 cruiser when he was younger and indirectly got me in to motorcycling. A car was too expensive and a bike was the next best thing. Needless to say, I love it.

I'm in HS right now and I'm hoping to take this thing to college when I leave in a year and three months.

I am 31 and I'm a Radio Control freak and a computer tech. I got my scooter in 2011. Last year I got myself a 1999 Suzuki GS500E.

Hi all,

Soon to be new rider here from CT.  44 and late to the party but there's no time like now.  I may start with a smaller bike but haven't made any decisions yet.  I've always liked the look of the naked GS500E and hope to find one at some point.  They seem few and far between in the NY, NJ, CT area but perhaps one will turn up one the time is right.

Tons of info here and it appears to be a great resource so glad to be a part of it.
