Everybody say what you think is:

1. Best perfomance mod for the money/time.
2. Cheapest/Easiest performance mod (not the 5 degree ignition advance though)
3. Best performance mod at any cost (one mod only)

dohabee

bearing in mind that i haven't done any of them, my vote is:

1. progressive fork springs
2. washers on needles
3. hayabusa motor swap

Bluesmudge

1.) Sonic springs + heavier fork oil and Kat rear shock swap
2.) 15t front sprocket (or whatever other sprocket floats your boat)
3.) Not the best, but worth mentioning: new rearsets + clip ons + new rear shock for sportier riding position.

Assuming its my bike and I have bought it new. So no putting better tires than the hard as a rock crap on it ... that said ...

1. Rejet. Cos stock sucks even new.
2. Suspension mods (kat rear, springs or Kat FE). Cos stock sucks even new.
3. Pipe. Cos stock sucks even new.

Cool.

2. washers on needles

What do you mean washers on the needles? what does that do and what kind of washers, how many?

bassmechanicsz

washers on the needles is a way to rejet without buying new jets to help the stock setup perform not as lean.

The Buddha

The mod that works for every one, AKA commuters, beginners, track-sters, posers, wanna be's etc etc etc ... I have to say rejet. really its the only mod that adds longevity of the motor and is inexpensive. Of course of that the washers take the cake. They cost next to nothing and do very much work.
Light people wont care for suspension mods.
Commuters wont care for track days.
And buddha doesn't care for losing weight. In fact buddha wants to eat more and put titanium bolts on the bike.

Really most of the rest leaves out atleast 1 demographic.
Pipe, not every one wants loud.
Brakes - not everyone cares to stoppie it @ every light. Besides on a new bike, stock rubber lines and pads work just fine.
Suspicion - light as well as short people dont care for that.

Cool.

I kind of like the front suspension.  Handles great on the curviest roads I've been on in Kansas thats for sure.  I do enjoy the Kat rear spring swap.  Still bogged down with 2 riders on it.  But set on 4 with me, just perfect.  Even with the Jardine exhaust not too loud, definitely heard louder. But to each his own.
