I am not interested in anything you have to say
Don't bother talking to me, I will not answer you

Did a valve check and found one of the intake valves was out of spec. Went to the dealer to get a shim and an air filter for my next service.

Them - "Sorry we don't stock shims or air filters. They have to be ordered in"

Me - "Errrrr how do you do services on bikes that come into your shop to be serviced then?"

Them " Oh we order them in if needed"

Me thinking -  :bs: As if you guys are gonna wait a few days for parts to service a bike sitting in your shop.

I really hate stealerships. Another reason you don't get your bike serviced at a dealership. I highly doubt they even look at your valves when you put it in for a scheduled service.

On another note, my Sonic Springs came in today.  :thumb:

Installed an R6 throttle tube yesterday. Felt good for the quick ride I took afterwards. I'll play with it more after it stops snowing/raining.

Back on topic..
I FIXED A NINJA HEADLIGHT! A new friend/neighbor that just bought a Ninja 250 today is using the Bike Cave for parking. Coming over after dark he wondered about his headlight not working. I said to come on over (6 blocks) and if stopped by a LEO, just explain. They're cool. Heck, bike still had paper plates.

Analyzed things. First, clutch safety switch was disconnected (those can start in neutral with clutch out. Clutch must be in if in gear). Fixed that. Then noticed high indicator worked but not the lights. WTF! Felt around (no, not that erotic) only to feel the headlight connectors hanging down. The dealer didn't see the headlight bulbs were not plugged in! Needless to say, he will call the dealer tomorrow and ask for a time to bring it in for a complete inspection. He did learn how to get at the fuse box (we checked that first).

So thatr's what I did for SOMEONE ELSE'S bike tonight. I did a good deed!

That's how my shop is and I don't see a problem with it. I can't imagine them stocking at least one of every part for every bike they have ever sold. I guess shims might be more universal, but when I've ordered gaskets and stuff most of them weren't in stock at the shop.

Hah, speaking of dealers having parts in stock... When I was looking for an exhaust valve I called the local dealer and asked the guy in the parts dept. if they had a pair of exhaust valves in stock. The guy was clearly confused and asked me if it goes in the muffler. No one else was there to talk to at the time.

Called back later to see if I could talk to someone else, same guy picked up but he said he found the valve in the fiche. I asked if he had a pair in stock, he said yes and gave me a price. I confirmed it was for two of them, and that they had them in stock (redundant, I know... but keep reading). Drove down to buy them, when they rung me up it was twice as much as I was told on the phone. Someone doesn't know what 'pair' means, or how to count to 2. I told them to just give me one. I paid and they said 'It should be here in in 3-5 days'. I immediately got a refund, walked out, and am not going back.

It seems it has become necessary to qualify my posts:
I am/am not trying to start an argument. This post is/is not intended to be a personal attack. I am/am not merely attempting to present a different viewpoint.

Select the words that apply to you.

There is no emoticon with it's mouth open wide enough for that story, but this will have to do.   :o or maybe...  :icon_eek:

Put some red reflector type bolts on my license plate to be more visible.

They look nice. And safety.
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

I understand that. My point is that the items I wanted are used in services that they carry out in there shop. If you are a Suzuki dealer who sells GS500's why would you not keep basic service items on hand since you will be servicing these bikes.

On another note I picked myself up a set of OEM clip on style bars and top plate off eBay for $10. Bargain.

Janx101

.. or at least know how to read a parts fiche, be able to count, be able to check an inventory list .... and most importantly... admit that the items will have to be ordered in.... either during the phone call or before the cash gets handed over!!!...

storeroom clerks who cant perform their duties with diligence and efficiency should be hoisted by their own petard and left to rethink their work ethic for at least 9 hours!! .. without pay!  :thumb:

Only $10 for a Euro type-1 set? That's a steal!

I don't think the seller realized what he had. There was no pic on the ad so I asked through pm which type and scored.

slipperymongoose

Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.
