Hmmm .. Maybe

But I don't mean extra vibration.... Just the normal buzzing... And it's probably been about 10 rides since I actually sat down beside the bike and just looked.... To check for looseness in bolts or panels....  :icon_rolleyes:

It's one of the things I should do regularly ... Even some of the ones that 'I' tighten (since the PO didn't seem to bother at all) ... Do get a little bit loose occasionally ... The PO also had some sort of polishing and liquid Polish OCD too!! ... Nearly 3 years later and I still find hidden dried up smudges of bloody liquid polish! ... He must have used a friggin fire truck to squirt it on!  ;)

Torqued down the 8mm bolts on the right crankcase cover because I was noticing some oil weeping from one of the bolts.  Turns out most of them were below spec.  We'll see if that takes care of the oil film that kept forming, and I'll probably be torquing the rest of the bike down soon.

Drained all the watery gas out of my tank, and a whole bunch of big chunks of rust came out with it. Lovely.

peteGS

Haha nice Janx... gotta love OCD with polish! That's something I definitely don't have...

On the plus side for me, the newly reinforced guard and tail light are solid as a rock, survived the first test run through the twisties up to Mt Mee on Saturday and had a ball  :thumb:

The EX is nearing completion of its restoration. So today she went for a road trip to Vashon Island with some friends on an R1 and a GS500 (BrianRC).
We had great weather here in Seattle today. Riding Vashon Island is my favorite place: ferry ride to the island. Ride. Lunch. Ride. Wine tasting. Ferry ride home. How could it be better?

We looked for a Honda - so we could pose in order as  Yama-Hon-Kawa-Zuki

Threw some clip ons on the bike today. I can't tell if I like it or not
slightly modded 09 Gs500f
pro taper contour handle bars
sv650 headlight
gsxr750 forks
sv650 tail
gsxr wheels
two brothers slip on (gsxr 1000)

Took it for a ride and noticed the left fork seal is starting to seep.

frylockjim

stuck a new clutch cable adjuster on, cleaned and polished my bike, took her for a ride, and lit a cigarette on the exhaust manifold  :thumb:

Craftylilalien

New oil and filter, cleaned, lubed and tightened the chain, adjusted the clutch, nice and shiny after a bath, then took it for a 150km ride =D.

TheOzTurkish

changed plugs, lubed cables, oiled chain, adjusted the idle, looked at the carbies and thought f%$k that for now, went for a ride and played chasey with a skyline through the hills  O0 was a good day
You can run, but you'll only die tired.
If you hit it with a hammer and it doesn't fix it, you have an electrical problem

"Ok first things first im down 3 tequila shots, 2 jager shots and avout 4 ciders so if this doesnt make sence im sorry"

Erika

Cleaned my chain and noticed some really tight spots. Gotta order a new one soon. Also thought about getting a carb kit. My plugs seem to show it's running a little lean. Maybe a good cleaning will help.

slipperymongoose

Dunno bout you but those plugs look pretty good
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

That's what I thought!... until 2 guys saw them and both said "those look lean". I think I'll just clean the carbs... I know they're due anyway.

Well perhaps they look different in person, but those plugs look good to me.  Left one slightly more lean than the other, but they both look good.

They might be a touch lean, but that's nothing unusual for a GS500.

Janx101

The right side one is definitely leaning.... Clearly not parallel to the other!! ...  ;) :D :thumb:

Busy day at the West Seattle Bike Cave.
Nikonandy came by for a headlight, headlight brackets, stainless chain guard and something else but I forget because he left some beers which were enjoyed later in the day.
Brianrc gave Audry a valve adjustment. Carbs were in perfect sync! Other stuff but I forget because we were having good local beers and pizza.
Suzi got her much needed valve adjustment. A couple were under 0.04 and well, she needed it at 4000 miles and she is now at 9000. She ran fine, but runs better now. Carbs also were in sync so no adjustment there.
Olly  did oil change on his new R6.
In all, a good 13 hour day in the bike cave.

Now I remember. Andy also got a pair of front turn signals.

Found the issue with the horn not working ... 1 wire in the plug I replaced a few months back... Hadn't clipped it into the plastic surround plug properly.. Hit the button and it went meep! ... So...  :icon_rolleyes:

Picked up a new button type horn .. 450hz and 118dB ...adjusted it for maximum sound available..there were other ones avail at the auto parts store and could have gone BIG noise... But budget constraints for now make that acceptable....  :thumb:

Finally got a hole saw and cut up on the black bit inside the top fairing .. And screwed in the weatherproof 12v plug for accessory use...  :thumb:

Buuuut.... While I was removing the tank to get at the loose wiring job ... Undoing the front fuel line from the tank petcock.... And pulled the bloody metal tube clean out of the petcock  >:(

.... So now I'm searching the board for pulled out petcock tube.... I know I've seen it... No big drama .. Just I can't remember what or if it's bodge-able ... May have to sideline the beast for a few days if I need a new or replacement petcock... Mutter mumble

Just push it back into place and you are good to go :thumb:
