It's not bloody effort! ... 10 mins with a drill and fretsaw and you have your timber ready....

You spend weeks farkling around with carbs but a template mold is techo?

You drinkin Pete? ! Lol ;)

peteGS

Hahahaha yeah well... you know... hahaha

If you saw the mess (and lake of timber type materials) in my very limited work area at the moment you'd understand why it's so much effort  :technical:

However! I shall definitely keep it in mind in case I find something suitable to make it with  :thumb:

I nearly had my stacks on with some dodgied up screens except that the clamps I have a too large a diameter and bind up before they clamp down fully... so damn close to getting rid of those crap pods!

I am not interested in anything you have to say
Don't bother talking to me, I will not answer you

There is now! .. white posture speak with forked tongue!  ;) .... garbage trucks in the rain...  delightful! ... least I could get in out of it when moving truck... you bike it or van it with wet weather Cods?

Janx101

How hot does that area get Pete? .. nylon collar under the clamp or the stacks maybe?

peteGS

It gets a little warm being directly over the cases but not too bad... I was thinking of a bit of thin aluminium wrapped around the base of the stacks then the clamp on top. I have some 0.8mm aluminium sheet here still.

I was too busy riding Sunday morning to think about it though... out with one of the Kat guys plus a mate I used to work with on a WR, a mate I work with now on the previously-mentioned-in-this-thread DL1000, a GSX14, a non-Suzuki GS, a Harley, and a bunch of metric cruisers...

Only way to go Cods!!!

Oh, and I completely forgot to post up my new battery cover!

I didn't have any timber to make a nice mold for it, so a couple of house bricks with the heat gun on melt mode (used carefully) did the trick...

Seems I'm having some issues getting to Photobucket to upload pic's at the moment so stay tuned...

Here we go... this:

Becomes this:

And covers the battery like this:

Not perfect but so much better than the rattly loose aluminium one I had in there that was hinged with a lock and just took up way too much room... and the rivets kept coming loose.

I'm happy with it  :thumb:

Whoops, thought I responded last night  :technical: looks good mate!  As a side note, what's up with the new emoticon arrangement? it's getting on my nerves...
I'll have no idea what piece you're referring to unless you include one of the following: Doobly doo, thing-a-ma-jigger, or dibbledy dop.

peteGS

Hahaha thanks mate! I was expecting Janxy to chip in on my non-melted bends but he's obviously slacking off...

And I haven't noticed a difference with the emoticon layout? Seems the same to me...

Hey PeteGS, Posting pic is great.

You're obviously a skilled "tin-knocker"

peteGS

Hahahaha nice Janx!!! First go was definitely a practise run as I've never attempt to melt... errrr... bend plastic with heat like that before, second go was the charm  :thumb:

If I had some timber around to make a mold then that would've been perfect!

Next time I do something like this (and there will be a next time I'm sure) I'll fork out for a sheet of some cheap thin timber that I can use for just that purpose, will make life a lot easier for sure!

EJ, you give me far too much credit  ;)

But I have bent and cut a few bits of metal type stuff... some even resembles what I intended it to look and function like...
