Hello all, I'm eRc.  23 year old former Marine, now doing the student thing at Penn State (lehigh valley campus).  I live in Allentown, loved motorcycles since I was able to speak, but didn't get one till gas prices reached "wtf" last fall.  I have a 2002 GS500k2 i found at a steal with only 417 miles on it (somewhere near 2000 now) and since winter is supposed to "start" anyday now i just ordered a new V&H SS exhaust, K&N clip on, streetfighter headlight, LED's for the tach and speedo, some mikuni jets (20, 67.5, 147.5), 15t front sprocket, and will be doning fenderectomy, shortening the signal stalks, diy ignition advance, and fork spacers so when i get back out there in spring, it'll be a whole new beast!!!  Have noone to ride with yet (friend just got his license back after 6 years, and other friend who i wnt through MSF with didn't get a bike yet) but I've seen a few other GS's around town (ther'e one always at the dunkin doughnuts next to my dad's work)  Hopefully I'll make some "biker freinds" soon but if not, i'm fine with riding alone.  That's it for me, you can rest now!  END
At the end of every slaughter, there's laughter...

Codger

Old >40 year old married >20 years mechanical engineer.  After a 2 year relationship with a DRZ400S which was fun below 60 mph, but not a good bike when all of your customers are +90 miles away, I got a 2006 F.  After the DR, my wife had an interest, so due to limited stature and noob status is starting on 250 Ninja.  I have a preference for the GS due to my codgerly status.  The bike is not to fast and is grumbly like myself.  Since other than the DR, my previous motorcycle experience was pre'80 Aermacchi  singles, Yamaha 2s twins and Kawa 2s triples, the GS among all of them is the most comfortable and useable, for both city and highway.  Other than the well discussed new bike carb issues, which I intend to provide more information, the bike has been great except for  an occasional  5-N-6 shift gap.  I initially thought about a higher level ? bike, but I evaluated what I truly needed and my weakness for dumb simple machinery drove me to the GS.  Dumb cheap bikes for, in my case, dumb cheap people in Central TX.

My name is Troy and I live in Austin, TX. I bought an '05 GS500F to commute across town and have loved going to work ever since. My work starts early and ends early, so traffic is smooth and relatively stress free. There haven't been a lot of opportunities to do recreational rides, but growing up in this part of Texas I'm familiar with numerous Hill Country backroads and would love to meet some fellow riders in the area interested in the occasional weekend ride. Looking forward to reading more of everyones postings.  :)

My name is Paul, and I'm a 26-year-old new rider in Atlanta.  I just passed my MSF Beginning Riders Course back in December, and am now looking to buy a good used GS500E.

When I'm not lusting after a motorcycle, I teach economics and political science at an Atlanta-area high school.  I also coach cross-country (distance running) and sponsor the Mock Trial team.  It's my first year teaching, but I already think I know what my favorite two things about my job are:
1.  June
2.  July :icon_lol:

I'm also a cyclist, and it was actually my passion for road cycling that got me interested in motorcycling.  This summer, I'm looking forward to doing a lot of riding in and around Atlanta, and in the Southeast in general.   :thumb:

I havent even gone in to do my learners license yet.. ( not much sense due to the snow n ice).. I've been lurking on thie web page for a while  and wanting a gs500 for a few years now.. I'm Robert, from Oceano, CA, about 3 minutes from Pismo Beach.  I recently bought a GS500E, 95, from a guy I work with, who purchased it to ride with the R-1, GSXR, CBR guys at work.  He quickly figured out that that wasn't going to happen, he also kind of tossed it down the road once.  It then sat for a few years, until I heard about it.  It was a lean pig when I bought it, jetting is now close, but not perfect, but I'm working on it.  33 years riding, got a felony speeding ticket about 5 years ago, went dirt only, just now getting back on  the street, the GS just doesn't have the hoo-hoo's to get me into trouble like the old big bores did.

Hi, My name is Davide, 24 and I'm writing from Piacenza, Italy.
It's some time I'm reading this kind site due to my wish about a bike.....and finally i decided about a brand new GS500. Unfortunately the bike seller had only the white/blue one, maybe the black one would be better, but if I chose that, I would have to wait until the bike arrive to the central store...for an unknown time.

So now I've got my own bike  ;)

P.S. Anyone can address me for some aftermarket components such as turning lamps, for sure available also in Italy! :D Thanks!
