Glad you found the leak.  When I first looked at the photo, I thought that was a crack in the aluminum casting -- THAT would suck!  I wonder why the gasket is so much wider than the lip of the casting?

I'm still going to let my base gasket leak seep until it's losing more oil than I can keep up with, or until I have to freshen up the engine.  I'm glad this one is a little easier to get to.

Wrecent,
I have that exact same leak on my 96.  For the longest time I thought it was my dipstick gasket.

I would give thought to replacing all of those 6mm bolts -- they're definitely stretched from the over-torque and you're asking for one of them to break by torquing them again, even to the lesser spec.

If you think it sucked taking it apart a second time, wait for the THIRD!  :o

MEAT FIST!!!

I didn't even use my torque wrench...  I decided that I'd just put my hand right over the top of the socket and crank until I thought it was pretty tight... Then LEAVE IT ALONE!  I've broken so many damn bolts...  And my torque wrench doesn't go low enough to be accurate at those low torque settings...  I totally lucked out and didn't break anything... And no leak (But it was also the other side, not the clutch cover).

I totally feel your pain...  Getting that gasket off is a total motherf%$kingc%$ksuckingb!tchwhore...  Then the worry that it won't be tight enough and leak or WORSE, come loose..........     :icon_confused:  ???
