Hey everyone,

21 y/o college student at Western Washignton University in Bellingham, Washington. Just bought an '89 GS500, pearl white, after looking for several months for a good starter bike. The MSF did an awesome job preparing me for riding, since I had never been on a motorcycle as of 2 months ago. Took about two days for me to keep the bike the way it was, then on went new grips (Progrip Superbike grips), fresh battery, fresh oil/filter, and soon new mirrors since one of the current ones is a chrome round one and the other is a rectangular black one.

Best pic I have so far:

Glad to be part of the forum, and I hope I can contribute in some way to what goes on here!

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

38 yr old Male from Omaha, Ne. just got my 2004 GS500F it looks just like the one on the front page well except I slid out on some gravel last night so now it has some scratches and a broken front blinker >:(.  Well I bought it for a starter Bike and it already had been dropped on each side so I figured I couldn't do much worse. Well I'm pretty excited to be on this forum since I've been reading stuff on here for bout a week (when I'm not riding).
I freakin HATE gravel  !!!   >:(

I'm going into my second year of grad school for a PhD in applied math at UCLA.  I'm an asian girl, but I grew up in rural indiana.  I'm really excited to get my bike (black 96' GS500e, some dents and scratches, 9k miles) lowered in the next few weeks so I can ride it comfortably.  I finished the MSF last weekend, but I just tipped right over while I was riding--I'm still rough on the whole starting thing--, so I think a couple inches could go a long way.  I've got a couple of friends who ride and are in various stages of learning, so I can't wait to go out with them!
