Hi,

I'm considering offers for my 2005 gs500f, converted to gs500e, first on this forum and eventually CList. I'm not in a rush so I'm currently not considering selling for less than $1000. I also won't part it out. The bike is in Brooklyn, NY 11211.

I'm the second owner. Here's the information:
- knocking engine needs to be rebuilt or swapped out
- tiny to small assorted scratches or rust spots from wear and tear (can detail)
- 4600 miles
- clean title
- Suburban-Machinery Type 2 handlebars (lower than stock, less pullback for more agressive riding posture)
- SV650 headlight lens, GS500E headlight assembly (trim bezel, bucket, mounting tabs, fork brackets)
- 2003+ SV650 mirrors
- .80 kg/mm racetech fork springs (straight rate) and new 10w fork oil
- new HH front and rear brake pads, and fresh brake fluid
- fenderectomy
- all original plastics/fairing/cowling parts can be included, plus new mirrors, lower left fairing and sticker set

The engine is knocking but what's left of the bike is in good condition. You may read a more full, yet vague, description of the engine here, including links to videos of the engine noise on youtube, and forum users' insights: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=43304.0. My local shop tentatively diagnosed the engine knock as something wrong with the pistons, or possibly crankshaft. Although it's currently running, the engine must be rebuilt or swapped out for a different one. The problem may be more minor, but I just don't know. I'll sell assuming the motor is a goner.

I dropped the bike on the right side while pushing it off the centerstand in July 2007. The crankcase, exhaust, and right hand mirror were lightly scratched. I also low-sided the bike on a grassy bank at the end of a left turn in November 2007. The stock handlebars were bent, left mirror scratched, lower fairing scratched and cracked, and cowl body plastic (the black part that wraps inside the cowl, and costs $10.88 on bikebandit.com) was cracked. I then converted the bike to a naked E model, with a few extras. I still have the stock and original cowling body and headlight, mirrors, plastics, plus a new left lower fairing and Suzuki sticker set. All I'm missing is the cowl body plastic that can be purchased for under $11 on bikebandit.com: http://fiche.ronayers.com/Index.cfm/Module/Main/TypeID/26/Type/Motorcycle/MakeID/2/Make/Suzuki/YearID/47/Year/2006/ModelID/7851/Model/GS500F_2004-2006/GroupID/373010/Group/COWLING_BODY_(GS500FK5)_ (part 7 in the microfiche).

The bike is in Brooklyn, NY 11211. I'll be out of the country and mostly unavailable from August 8-18, but can show the bike or answer questions when I return. I'm sure the bike could be parted out and you would at least break even.

thanks,

man, I hate to see you have to dump the bike like this.  In perfect running condition it's worth at least $2500.  Have you considered pulling and disassembling the engine to find the problem?  It's not hard to do, seriously.  There are many of us here on the board who can help you with each step, not to mention the excellent Haynes manual that's available.  I guarantee you can fix it up for a few hundred bucks in parts.

i know you wont part her out and i dont blame you, but would you consider selling the stock fairiings and light?

This really is my dream. The thing is that my job is pretty demanding, and low-paying, so I don´t have the time to dedicate to repairing or replacing the engine. it took me a month to complete the F to E conversion, fit the new handlebars, fork spring/oil replacement, and brake pad and fluid change! I feel like the engine work has to be done right.

Although the bike is up for sale, I´m still looking for a working engine to swap in.

I´ll update soon.

Hello,

I just bought a gs500f motor with 167 miles on it, which I hope to swap in with the help of a friend. The bike is no longer for sale, but I will eventually sell the swapped out motor. I'll put up a new FS post for the motor in the coming months. Thanks for your interest!
