filled it up, dumped in the Stabil, went for a ride, drained the carb bowls and pulled the battery.  bike hibernation has commenced.

Added some MSR Dirtbike bars and Renthal Grips....love the feel so far.

Added spools to Blue Smudge's bike today since he didn't have a center stand and we need to work on it. We did a lot. Best if he explains the hilarity and shenanigans of today's work session.
Also helped Century Ghost fix a car wiring issue.
Got a $100 parts bike delivered. Engine does turn by hand. Carbs dirty but what would you expect for $100? Clip-ons for sale! original 89's! Clean white rims for sale, too!

Travelled back to Dubbo, rented myself a truck and started loading up my belongings there. Once we were all done, I looked in the garage to see Spewey, sitting there, forlorn, broken fairings and all, crying for attention.

A quick measure, some swearing, cursing the gods, and praising some others, Spewey was man-handled onto the hydraulic lift. He was then tied in to within an inch of his life, and off we went. Arrived in Lithgow with no issues, and, once again, with alot of cursing and hair pulling, he was once again man-handled onto the lift, and lowered down to safety.

Long story short, he now has a new home, and I can work on getting him ship-shape again.

A shame I'll have to find him and myself a new friend...

Great day in the bike cave with adidasguy yesterday. Where to start?

My bike was giving some electrical trouble. A CDI unit, Regulator/Rectifier, set of coils and a lot of meter testing later we managed to get the carbs in sync and the manifold gaskets refreshed ...  :dunno_black:

Along the way we seemed to fix the electrical problem, but can't be sure how.
I did learn a few things, like: tighten bolts, thread lock is your friend, don't short the battery to the frame, no really don't short the battery to the frame, old jeeps are haunted, make sure someone is holding the bike before removing the rear stand or you will knock over a classic Suzuki trail bike...and when that happens and a bike takes a chunk out of your pinky, a little finger condom does wonders to keep the wound clean while you continue to wrench.

No pics, so it didn't happen.......right?

bombsquad83

You knocked over Thumper and lived to tell about it?  And who has finger condoms laying around....hmmm.

This just isn't my weekend...

Yesterday, I had a major plumbing problem involving a cast-iron waste pipe.  That was a complete disaster.

Then today, I decided to look at my rear brake caliper since I noticed my brakes were dragging.  Piston stuck.  I mean stuck.  In fiddling with it, new or old pads will not go back in.  Strange, but I'm over it at this point.

Took the hose off the other end...the one that's near the brake lever.  Came right off.  Looking on E-Bay for a new caliper now.  Not fighting with this any longer...why rebuild a caliper when they are a dime a dozen on E-Bay?
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

Soldered extension wires for my horn after relocating it again. I also cleaned up the R6 shock I bought recently and learned that adjusting shock preload without the shock mounted in the bike is somewhat more difficult than it would seem.

Before and after pics as well as where I made my connections (soldered and heat shrink)

Picked up a pair of the diodes at Radio Shack for less than $2

Installed the light today in another fairing. Also VHT'ed an old windshield I had until I get my smoked Zero Gravity. Also added my chrome spikes around the windshield and where the OEM mirrors used to be. I still have to connect the RGB strip in the projector shroud to my controller but Im waiting on other parts to add to it still

where to start...
took Suzi for a trip to work (she is my commuter, but has been a bit sick as off late) to work out a list of things that needs fixing. i must add that after only riding the YZF600R for a few weeks Suzi seems like a pushbike (as small and light and just as fast, couple of take offs i thought id have to get off and help push her up to speed)....

so now i have a list and parts ordered, stay tuned for updates  :)

Used some brake quiet on the back of my pads on both the front and back brakes.  Completely eliminated the squeal.  Here's a link to the stuff I used...

Took a nice ride with the warm weather today here in IL.  Was a great ride.  Going 70 into a 25 mph wind feels pretty interesting.  Kinda fun, but convinced me I want to get a windscreen of some type to try.

Another trick is to smear a little Suzuki Moly Paste on the backside of the pads.  It's thick and sticky, but goes a long way.  It's primary use is for splines, drive shafts, and worm gears.

i'm sure that moly paste would work well too.  Anything that helps lubricate where the pad contacts the caliper will work.  I just had some brake quiet stuff laying around from using it on my car pads.

I think that is the indicator he's using.  I really like it with the new blue backlights in the gauges too.

Rode it to school. Inspected the tires, cursed 'cause I now need new ones very soon. Then made a thread about my surging idle problems
