Basically I want to know if this Handbar kit and Riser is compatible with the 2005 Gs500F

the compatibility chart thingy below the item says the bars fit?! ..

the '08 risers should be ok 'i think' .. cant see why suzuki would change a multi tens of thousands item between 05 and 08?

you dont have standard risers? .. or you have broken/bent risers now?

The "raisers" is just the same top plate you have now.
Same from 1989-2009 and beyond.

The steering is a 1 "handlebars and thus you need the matching fixtures, handles and switch units.

Furthermore, you have the fork bridge Spinning on leave from 22mm to 25.4 mm.

Some work, but it looks cool anyway.

+1 on Jim's comments... I don't think I would trust that compatibility chart on that listing... our top plate fits 7/8" handlebars, while that listing states that those handlebars are 1"

Hrm ... On the size thing .... The bit that goes into the risers ... Is smaller than the main bar bit ...

So ... Is the smaller bit 1" and then it goes fatter ... Maybe 1.25" for the main bar ... OR ... Is the main bar 1" and it goes smaller for the risers ... 7/8 or something? ....

Edit ... For that matter the photo shows that the grip area is also smaller than the fat Z bit

Out in the world of bar 'furniture' ... Grips/switch clusters etc ... What's the usual standard? ... Or is there a standard? .. Do many makers/brands use larger internal diameter grip stuff? ...

I've never paid attention to such things on road bikes ... I know 'most' dirt bikes .. You go to get a set of new bars ... And 'most' of the bars hanging in the rack look a similar diameter ...

The blurb in the advert says something about cruisers or Harley's? .. Do they use a bigger uniform size bar normally? ... Or even with fat bars does the section out near the handgrips reduce to an 'international standard' or something?

I see the sections you are describing... and lower down in the description it says 1" for grip diameter   

Harleys are 1", but Goldwings are all 7/8"... so I don't think there is necessarily a standard size for say a certain style bike, but maybe for a particular maker each sticks to a certain size? 
Now, many larger diameter bars go down to 1" for the grips... but I have never heard of 7/8 bar going upto 1" for grips.

yeah for sure! .. would be a pain in the ass to expand or weld on a larger diameter bit just for a grip section ..

plus .. despite my post earlier after using their compatibility chart ...

the statement they make about 1" grip and mount diameter... that seems pretty conclusive eh!

now .. for the OP Blaircroft .. if i interpret Jim Knopf's post correctly ... he means that it can be made to fit but its gonna 'cost' you time/dollars ... with some machining by yourself or a machinist ..

if going down the path... then yeah sure .. get the riser set, take it to where you can get the bar clamp area machined out to 25.4mm (1") and away you go! .. 

now ... just followed a link on that ebay page to the  T-Motorsport store.... and noticed this.... just for fun!!

I SWEAR these almost look like the bars Buddha used to make years back

Be careful when you buy them. Just cause the compatibility says it fits doesnt mean it will. Thats what happened to me with a set of clubmans. Needless to say the clubmans are still sitting on a shelf -.-

The other issue I see is they specify that they are not DOT Approved. Check your local and state laws.

The stock risers are missing the bracket and thus useless. One handlebar is bent and Im having a hard time finding a replacement. Stock or Aftermarket.

P.S the bikes been lowered significantly Im still not sure how much but its very low

Yes but when I got this bike it wasnt being used and the top bracket itself is missing

Why don't you just replace the top part of the bar clamp and get 7/8th inch bars? Or you could buy another set of those clip-ons on eBay.

Yea ive been trying to decide for weeks. These Z bars look awesome but they dont fit apparently. Nor does the Clubman.

I might just go with the clip ons it would be cheaper I think

Thank you I saw those. Just got confused with the different sizes. I thought someone said the Clubman isnt compatible?

Two things you have to consider:

1. Fitting inside the fairing - not hitting or scraping the fairing
2. Tank slap: The tank is wide. Hard left or right turn and some bars will slap the tank. (The reason one OEM clip-on works on the 2001+ models: only the European type-1 will work. The 1989 style slaps the tank.)

This is a good reason to research this. cause most times a test fit isn't possible. and many places wont allow returns. ( although some do) tank slap  test = lock to lock turn. course you know this. same with fairing clearance. sometimes you can modify a fairing to clear a bar but nearly impossible to mod a tank lol. OP spend some time reasearching this. before pulling the trigger.
