QuoteImpressed you managed a cut that straight using a hacksaw and no jig!

I wish it had been straighter! hard work cutting a straight line on a curved bit of pipe, thankfully i have a big ol' file that straightened things up nicely.

I'm thinking about mount the plate like a ducati monster to keep the rear end clean, failing that I'll have to weld a plate to the underside of the subframe.

I might just stitch a clear pocket into the back of my jacket for the plate so that I can keep the bike clean and shaved.  :icon_lol:
Deals on Amsoil if you want it. PM me for details.

What about building it into the back of the seat and fair it in with the seat? Depends on how big you plates are though.

Maybe something like this. Without the light fitting

What's that actual size of the licence plate that has to go one?

moto

As small as i can get it, i think probably 6x4" or 7x5"

I see your problem with the plate size. Real parachutes. Even more reason to incorporate into the back of te seat area,I would think, rather than hang down. A little styling work and it could pretty well disappear from the side and still look OK.
Maybe the plate could go into the back of the seat but the plate light stay on the frame ( lit from the bottom).
It would be a shame to spoil the clean line you get from that brake/tail light.
Here we also have to have a 1 square inch reflector ( 600mm sq I think is the actual measurement). Consider 3M reflective tape beside the light if you have to add a reflector. It weight nothing. Lasts really well if applied properly. And you can get the total area you need easily. It has the advantage of reflecting from far greater off axis angles.

Or you can tuck the license plate deeper into the seat, and preserve the beautiful clean lines of that hoop.

Something like this?

Don't think those blinkers are gonna be real effective. In Aus they have to be a min of 300mm centre to centre anyway. The licence plate in Queensland has to be no more than 15deg from the verticle so we couldn't use that one. That's why I tend to incorporate it into the seat.

So the frame finally came back from the powder coater today!! It came out really well in a textured black black finish. Excited to get this bike built up now!!

Going well. I really do like the rear subframe work.

That looks amazing!  You've got some mad skills!

Think you'll powder coat that subframe, or leave it bare silver metal to show off your handiwork?

If you go with a K&N filter, it'll save some clutter and show off that nice tail better.

Thanks, im really happy with the way it is going!

I think im going to go with a gloss black on the rear sub frame, so it stands out against the Matt of the main frame, but is still subtle - ish! Ive got a little bit of welding and fettling to do with rear before it gets a coat of powder.

Ive got a lunch box filter on order, which should keep things clean, hopefully my R6 shock will turn up this week too!  :woohoo:

You're gonna love the R6 shock.  It's definitely one of the best upgrades I've done on my bike.
Having all that empty space in the tail makes pulling and installing a shock a whole lot easier.  You'll prob have to grind out a bit of the swingarm though.
I posted a description as part of my signature link.

Our rides are built along very similar lines!

Any thoughts on your exhaust?  I've got a suggestion...   :D
