It's aluminium (at least a magnet doesn't stick to it) and is a straight through 61mm internal diameter job... might need to add a baffle to get the Kat registered though, could be a touch loud

Something like this in the right size I reckon should quieten it down enough without killing it. Good thing with an 84 model is the noise rules are a little more lenient than modern bikes.
