37 year old male in CT. I just bought a 91. I am scheduled to take my MSF class in August so I am looking to do some work on the bike before hand. The site definitely got me pumped for a GS500.

Howdy y'all!  I'm a 22-year-old, displaced, redneck, engineer, temporarily living in Arizona.     I've just recently become very serious about motorcycling, though I've been interested by bikes all my life.  I've got probalby 20 toy and model motorcycles on my desk here at work.  Haha.  I'm signed up for the BRC coming up the first weekend of August, and I'm really excited about it!  :thumb:

I'm looking to pick up a GS at some point after that.  I want a red one.  :icon_mrgreen: There was a really nice one that just ended on eBay, and the price was well within my price range, however, it was clear across the country.

I've been reading on here for a while on-and-off, and after reading the threads about Rich,   I knew that this would be a great community and decided to register.  Glad to be here, and I'm appreciating all the wonderful information already available!  :thumb:

PS:  And just so there's no confusion, I am far from a Forum n00b, just a motorcycle n00b  ;).   I moderate/administer 4 Nissan and 4x4 related forums, so I'm pretty well versed with the "search function."   :kiss3:

See y'all `round the bend!  O0

My name is Sherry. I'm from Pittsburgh, PA, home of  the World Champ STEELERS!!  :thumb: I just bought my first gs500f last Wednesday and I'm all a twitter about riding it. The only thing is that when I was taking the MST course I fell off of the bike 3 times. Not nearly enough to kill or fail me but just enough to shatter my cofidience in riding. I've heard nothing but good things about the bike and how good it is for beginner riders. I want to get the most out of my bike, have confidence in my ability to handle my bike and myself and keep up with my boyfriends bike. He has a V-Strom 650.

Plus: if you could steer me in the right direction to obtain some cool accessories that would be very helpful.  O0

Welcome!

Well, you know what cowboys say, "If you fall off your horse, you get back on".  Get back on your horse.  :thumb:

What kind of accessories are you looking for?  Winter gloves? (TourMaster)  Rainsuit? (TourMaster)  Handguards for winter riding? (Suzuki 650 V-Strom)  I believe there is a colored windshield available; do a search (up at the top) on "aftermarket windshield" or "windscreen".

Welcome, Sherry! I dropped my MSF bike, too, during a practice session. I'm two years out, and I'm still dropping my bike....but I'm a special case...  :cookoo:

scratch is right....just get back on the horse, and start riding again. You'll build your confidence up with each successful ride.  Take it easy and slow... You'll naturally gather the experience and confidence you need to *eventually* keep up with your boyfriend. It's really true that you need to ride your own ride! :thumb:

Guess I should introduce myself...

I'm Nathan or Jonathan, I go by either. I'm a 22y/o in Nashville.

I'm not new to motorcycling, two years ago a friend of mine and I had a '02 Honda F4i which was the first sportbike I rode, after it was sold I went bikeless for two years until I got the itch to get back on a bike and ended up buying my '05 GS.

By the day I'm an aircraft mechanic, so these aircooled oil burning inline piston banging engines are right up my alley. I also work with composites (fibreglass, kevlar, CF) so shortly I'll end up making a new undertail/fender eliminator for my GS.... we will see how that goes.

GSnMARAUDER

Hey Guys, My Name is Max. im 17 years old but have bein riding since i was 13. i have had three motorcycles already (two which i still have) and i live in pompano beach florida. i am very big into motorcycle resoration. my first motorcycle was a 1982 suzuki gs650 which had bein sitting in my geradge for 10 years before i began to work on it at the age of 13. after one year the bike had been brought from junk to jewelry and cherry with only 4,200 miles. after i sold the bike to a suzuki enthusiast i saved up alittle more money and bought a  1998 suzuki Marauder. it is a wonderful motorcycle and has an awesome ride, but the turning is so heavy, so two days ago i just recently bought my self a project bike which happens to be a 1996 suzuki gs500 E with 6,700 miles on it the bike was left in the sun and rain for 4 years. so i managed to pick it up for $550. i have plans to completely restore this awesome little motorcycle and put a turbo on it, the turbo i have bought for it is a 1983 honda cx500 turbo and intercooler. i believe it should be a good match up if i set it up corectly  :icon_mrgreen:, so thats about it ill have some pictures posted up of me and my motorycles shortley

-Max.
