Hi again!

It´s been a while since a posted here. The status on my project is that i moved the fairing forward, and down. Tho the mounting solution i made to do this is only temporarly, and i'm not really happy with the position yet, i will redo this later on. The problem it´s hard to see in real life where it should be mounted, and you either can´t just mount it like the Ducati 748, cause the arcitecture of the bike differs a lot. So you basicly have to test some diffrent positions to see whats looks best.

Haven´t been much driving on the bike this summer, mostly because of jettings issues, (is that common on the gs ) and the fact that i become a father, so i haven´t got so much time to spend on the bike. But now as the summer comes to an end, i hope to get some more time spent in the garage. And i do have som more plans for my gs to the next seasson. I´m at work now, and the only picture i have on the new fairingpositions are with my cell, so the quality is so so... As you can se on the picture, i also managed to lay down the bike att low speed, causing the right side fairing to be, well a litte messed up  :icon_confused:. It also will be repaint this winter.  :thumb:

Is that exhaust bend and flange done custom or from another bike? Im diggin it. I hope the cutouts on the fairings for the side covers dont need too much massaging when you move  'em up and down.  But excellent job so far... Like ya boy Ronald McDonald says :thumb: "I'M LOVIN IT"

Yes, the exhaust are custom homemade. It will be painted black later on.

Do you have a new pic this one kinda looks like you destroyed your fairing. Might just be a glare or flash reflection. But its looking alot better.
Current project:
Mmotos full body kit (YOU DONT WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM... READ MY THREAD BOOT STATE UPDATE)
K&N Lunchbox
Buddah's jets
CBR F2 rearsets
Ducati pass pegs (Modified)
Kat rear wheel
Carbon Fiber Exhaust Can, possibly shortened and relocated
And so on......

Hey man, that bike looks awesome! I was MIA for a while, so i completely missed this whole thread build, but I've always had thoughts about putting one of those tails on the GS. I've been worried it would be a little wide though. It fits yours, but you've also got the fairings to even it out. How hard was it to hook up that speedometer? Any info on what kind of work it took? I'm not that great with electrical stuff, so I'm sure it would be way out of my league. Is the speedometer still run off of the front wheel?

Anyway, really looks good. The gap behind the front wheel looks a lot better. How high is the rear raised? looks really high. Ooh, and if you get tired of messing with the lower fairing to get it positioned right, you might be able to find some other fairing, off of a GSXR or other, that would line up nicely with the frame that you could try to make fit with the top fairing. Maybe an early 90's gsxr fairing or something like that.

Yes, the tail is pretty wide, so without changing the rear wheel to a 4,5" it propably wont look so hot. Maybe a Cagiva Mito would fit better with the stock wheel. I bought the speedo on eBay, from china. No it´s not hard to get it to work, it came with wiringscheame and all. It also came with an magnet and sensor for the speedometer so you can fit it on the front wheel or the rear wheel. I choosed the rearwheel, the magnet is fitted on the rear sprocket. I´ll post some pics of that later on.

Actually i dumped the lower (boat) fairing in the garbage. Looks better without it, and hey it´s easier to do the oil changes now. :D

I´m not sure exactlly how high the rear is, it´s a SV 650 shock, wich is mounted with the stock "dogbones", so a little bit higher than stock, but not much.

yeah, I didn't think too much about the wheel. I was mostly thinking about it being wide compared to the gas tank. I have an old R1 tail on mine and it definitely looks too wide compared to the tank. You can't really tell when you're sitting on it.

The magnet makes sense. Are most newer bikes just run by magnet? What about the tach? I'm assuming it's not the same style as the cable on the GS. Did you just cut into the electrical system around the spark plugs somewhere?

It probably just looks higher because of the combo of the shock and the tail being higher. The swingarm just looked steeper than normal. I have an sv650 shock I haven't gotten around to putting on as well, but I also have some dog bones to bring it back down to the original height.

Yes you just hook up a signal cable on the cale to the ignition coil, and you have the tachometer as well. I actually lowered the rear shock as far as i could with the stock dog bones. Before it was higher, but the chain was eating on my swingarm that way. And now i don´t have that much weight on the front wheel. Before the bike really wanted to fall fast into corners, was´nt nice to drive at all.
