Hi. 39 year old male from Morgantown, PA here.  I just bought a 2005 GS500F this past weekend, so I've been checking out the forum for some tips.  This is my first motorcycle, so I am really excited.  I originally thought I was going to get a cruiser, such as a Kawasaki Vulcan, but after I saw the Suzuki, and sat on it, I knew I wanted a sport bike.  I found the 2005 GS500F on craigslist.  It only had 25 miles on it, but I paid $3850.

I go for my Motorcycle Safety Course next month.  I can't wait.

Hi,

42 year old male  from SE Michigan.  Just purchased a project 1997 GS500E with 15k miles.  Hope to have it running reliably before the end of the season (has idle and other fuel issues).  Working with Buddha to get the carbs straight now.

Hi my name is Jethro (aka Jet or JT). I bought a 2007 GS500F on Feb. 2008. I'm a beginner rider here in Modesto, CA. I just got my motorcycle license back in Oct. 2007. I'm 31 years old. Anyone else in Modesto, CA or Central Valley have a GS500F? I hang out almost every Wednesday Night at the Firkin Fox with a motorcycle club in Modesto from 6:45pm till when I feel like leaving. I'm not in a motorcycle club yet. I'm checking them out for now but they are a great set of people to hang with and go on rides with. If you live close to Modesto come on out. It's on the corner of 11th and I st.

Hi, I am Dan from Lancashire, England. I have a 2004 GS500 and the reason I am here is to share anything I learn about these bikes and also to get help with what may well be fuel starvation. Higher revs...lack of power...kinda 'slips'  not really a misfire....just no power / hesitating. Good luck with your bikes and make sure you dont crash at high speed.

Hey yall, Im Gordon in the Coast Guard currently at Mobile AL.  Just got my first bike a 2006 gs500f and I am loving it so far.  This site is great Ive been reading as much of it as I can for the last couple weeks.

I almost forgot to introduce myself. I am Brian from Columbus Ohio and I am 24. I just bought my 2007 off craigslist several weeks ago with 173 miles for $3500. This is my first bike so I have been taking it easy. I took the MSF course several weeks ago and I highly reccommend it to any beginner riders. Anyway, I love the bike and this site is an awesome tool with some great members. I happened to run into a guy from highschool at a local motorcycle store and he told me about this site. I'm glad he did!

Hello everyone, i am Payam. I just bought my first motorcycle last week from a local who was moving to CA. Got a 91 GS for 900 bux, 16k on the odometer. There are few things here and there that need to be done, but the bike is in completely functional order. I'm happy, i love tinkering with things anyhow.

I come from a large car community/background first hondas then subarus. suspension, brakes, HID projector retrofits and engine swaps were my forte. I moved up here (to RI) enrolling in University of Rhode Island's IEP (international engineering program) studying Mechanical Engineering and German. I sold my pride and joy (swapped subaru) for tuition. I miss it, but the outcome makes it all worth it. I started school late, but enjoy the challenge and look forward to my future in the automotive (preferably aftermarket R&D) industry.

I've been an avid biker for the past 10 years, mainly mountain/xc bike, then observed trials, and finally road/ss commuter. I survived off commuting by bus, bike and shoe for the past 2 years. But there are just some places that are not easily accessible by bus or bike; and living on a bus schedule is the pits.

Anyhow, i look forward to taking advantage of all the information this board has to offer. it seems like a nice community and i hope to have my bike for a long time. at least until my study/internship abroad. I have lots to learn (especially about carb's/jetting/cross compatibility of parts between bikes). But the challenge is what makes it fun.

i like long walks on the beach, poetry and wrenching on machines. in the area, lmk if you need a hand with anything, otherwise i wouldn't mind learning from the masters first hand

Hi All,

I've been lurking around the forums for about 2 months now. I just bought a new '07 GS500F in June and have been lurking here ever since and decided to register and introduce myself.

I'm a 34yo guy who recently moved to San Jose, CA from Vancouver, BC in February. I rode a lot of dirt bikes when I was younger and after seeing the traffic + gas prices down here i decided it was time to get a bike.

After researching online and reading this forum I decided on the GS500F and went out and bought it the next week.

Thanks everyone for making my decision easier.. :)

Hey all, name's Tony from Michigan.  I just got my 08 GS500F a month ago and just joined this site.  First things first, this site is AWESOME!!  I've already been able to do some cosmetic mods that have greatly improved the look of the bike and were VERY EASY to do thanks to the walkthroughs that are posted!!  I just wanted to say hi and congrats on such a large and awesome member base!

Hello everyone!

30-something guy currently in "exile" outside of Philadelphia, PA, with the hopes of getting back to Nova Scotia, Canada sometime soon.

I was looking through some classifieds for a ninja 250, but instead found what I hope is a nice reliable GS500E.  I found this place after googling for some more information on this bike, and what a wealth of resources!  I already found information on changing the rear brake, warnings about stripping bolts when changing the oil, making sure the valve clearance is good (including that well done video!), and a host of other things I want to do with the bike to make it ready for a nice drive back up to the maritimes.

Cheers!

Hi there everybody  :)

My name is Matt and I'm from Albuquerque, NM.  I've ridden dirt bikes for years when I was younger, but the GS is my first street bike.  I bought a 2007 F from a dealer who had it on clearance.  It was still new with 2 miles on the odo and was marked down to $4500.

I've had my bike for a couple of weeks now, and can't thank this great community enough  :thumb:  I've already done some cosmetic mods like flush mount turn signals front/rear. I've done the fenderectomy, carbon fiber bar ends and some wheel stripes.  All of which I've learned from here.

Looking forward to learning more and enjoying my bike!

Hi,

My name is Ryan, and I just picked up my 1993 GS500E on friday.  So far, it's been a very good first bike for me and it should be more reliable and fuel effecient than my 1991 Eagle Talon awd.  I found this site and I thought it would be in my best interest to be a member since it looks like this site has a lot of useful information!  So far I've had a lot of fun riding around on it and I'll be riding it for the next two months as well.

It runs and drives very well, and I love the exhaust note it has!

I was also wondering how many miles this bike will go before it needs to be filled up?
