Pragmatic

Hello folks,
I'm Dave and I'm 32 years old.
I've been reading the forums for about a year and finally picked up a GS500.  You could say a GS500 that's stayed in the Gstwin family.  Lineage as follows:

Stanfry >> Lexrst >> Pragmatic

Thanks for all the knowledgable posts!

Markus from Switzerland (Rheinfelden)

Have a GS 500E since Spring last year. rode her with a learners permit all summer, got my license in September.

Rode her all winter as well (not in icy conditions, but any other weather is fine.) All in all about 12'000 km since I have her, moslty for commuting.

Unfortunately corrosion protection on that bike is not quite up to the abuse I put it through...

happy ridding and keep it rubber side down!

ash999

Ash, 19, Bristol, Uk, been riding for 6 mnths on the GS, im proud of it, but need some more top end power. Thinking of buying a SV650, like my sis, they are so torquey, even riding 120mph on the motorways!! whoops did i say that, and there very good in the handling, tuck behind the fairing and no wind drag either. Anyways would anyone else recommend a new bike, im also thinking of streetfightering a bandit600

Congratulations on 2 BIG improvements to your quality of life.

Have a blast on your GS, and BE SAFE OUT THERE.  (A motorcycle can kill you just a tad bit quicker than "cancer sticks"!)

I am 23yr old  female dreamed of buying a bike for years. I live in Austin TX. I am looking for other riders in the area to learn from. Just bought my 2001 GS about a month ago, never owned a bike before and have not riden since i took the MSF course in november. I have not rode much since i got it though cause it took me 2 weeks to get a helmet and then i learned i needed a new clutch perch and cable because of a drop before i got the bike was eating through the clutch cable. Parts have not come in yet. Excited about it all but scared too. I just need more road time!

I am AL, I just recently acquired a 95 GS500 that would start but that was about it, It will take me some time and money but I hope I can get it going before summers end.   :)

I was always a dualsport/enduro rider, Suzuki TS 250, so a fulltime street bike is all new to me

You mean you live in Terre-tucky and you still had pride??       Just playing w/ ya.  I've been through there my fair share of times, it's a different town, that's for sure...

Anyways..  I'm Dan.  Hoosier by birth, Boilermaker by choice, and currently living in Wisconsin.  I'm in my mid twenties, and this is starting to sound like a personal ad...  I ride a '92 GS, my first bike.  I am absolutely loving it!!  I can't say how glad I am that I got this bike to start on.  It's a BLAST!!  I'm big into cars, my specialty are the Fox body Mustangs ('79-'93).  I have a '92 GT ('92 must have just been my year.   ) that I play with.  Anyways, w/ all of the car knowledge, it's strange for me to be clueless about an auto that I own.  But when it comes to bikes, I'm an FNG.  So please bear w/ all of my stupid questions, and take it easy on the newbie.

Later,
Dan
